Principal

Dear Students and Families of Stamford High School,

I wanted to formally welcome all students back to what I am certain will be an exciting, productive, and fun school year! I hope all of you had an opportunity to enjoy the much-needed time off this summer with family and friends. After what was arguably one of the most challenging school years we have ever faced, I am excited to have all of our students back in person taking their courses, participating in activities, and making the most of their opportunities at Stamford High School.

Our central theme this year will be getting back into the routine of school again with a focus on academics, the teaching and learning process, student activities, student agency, and simply enjoying being in high school without the distractions of the recent pandemic. We want all of our students to be engaged and reach their full potential at Stamford High School. Students have a wide offering of courses at their disposal including College Preparatory (CP), Advanced Placement (AP), Early College Experience (ECE), and Career Technical Education (CTE) as well as more defined programming such as Early College Studies (ECS) and our International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). Whatever your interest, Stamford High School can help lead you to a pathway of your choosing.

While we encourage all students to experience all Stamford High School has to offer, we also want our families to get involved in their student’s school experience. Volunteering to serve on committees, participating as guest speakers, or lending any professional experience you have can benefit our students to assist, inform, and develop a plan for success. For Stamford High School to function at its fullest potential, we need all students, staff, and families to be active participants.

To our Senior Class: June 2022 will mark the 157th graduating class of Stamford High School! As you go through your last year of high school, please remember all of the things that have you poised to take those next steps: hard work, commitment to academics, your family/support network, teachers, coaches, school counselors, social workers, school psychologists and other organizations on which you may have relied on to help you succeed. As seniors, you are an example and gold standard for our younger students who look to your experience and expertise as they prepare themselves for those same next steps.

In closing, I want to reiterate to all of the students, staff, and families how proud I am to serve as your Principal. Stamford High School has given me so much, both personally and professionally. It is with great pride and pleasure that I welcome you back to this very special place.

Wishing you all a safe, productive and fun school year!

Sincerely,

Matthew W. Forker (‘92)
